Ilian Alvarez

Ilian Alvarez is a Doctoral Student at Argosy University in the Doctorate of Education in Counseling Psychology program. She received her Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology also from Argosy University where she was inspired to continue her education and research. Currently, she holds a position within Providence Community Services, providing services to children and adolescents predominantly within the Latino population. Furthermore, she is near completion of certification in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy focused on providing treatment to clients with posttraumatic stress disorder.

Prior to her current position, Ilian was a clinical supervisor for an agency providing Applied Behavior Analysis to children with autism and other related disorders. Ilianís research interests include disclosure of sexual abuse within the Latino population, affects of sexual abuse on interpersonal relationships during adulthood, trauma, depression and anxiety within adolescents, multicultural issues and Latino mental health.
