Jose Navarro, LCSW
Jose Navarro, LCSW currently works as a Psychiatric Social Worker in a specialized Homeless Outreach and Mobil Engagement program in the Department of Mental Health, Los Angeles County. He also holds the position of President/Therapist in his counseling agency, Transforming Life Center, and specializes in trauma. Mr. Navarro has worked with other special programs including: Adoption and Foster Care, victims of crime, AIDS/HIV, inpatient psychiatric comorbid disorders, and special education.
He received his Masters of Social Work (MSW) degree from California State University, Long Beach and his Bachelors in Human Services from California State University Dominguez Hills. Jose Navarro is currently in the process of earning his Doctorate of Education in Counseling Psychology. Other specialized training includes; Neuro-linguistic Programming (NLP), Trauma Model therapy, Prepare and Enrich couples counseling, Krasner Method hypnotherapy, and Nurtured Heart Approach for Parenting.
Mr. Navarro has a passion for working with underserved/underrepresented populations and providing culturally sensitive interventions integrating existential theory with post-modern cognitive therapies. He wants to contribute to the field and professional community by enhancing practice in working with the Latino community via research and education/training.
